Experience:

2005-2007:  Simulation Process Engineer, United Defense/BAE, San Jose, CA:

Developed processes and plans for simulation, software, and hardware groups’ compliance with SEI CMMI level 5 processes.  Developed plans and processes for simulation and hardware groups, by adapting existing processes used in software group.  Developed and maintained HTML portal for organization of process documents.  Wrote plans for Training, Configuration Management, Requirements Management, and Risk.  Conducted Peer Reviews, Management reviews, Risk meetings, Causal Analyses, Decision Analyses, and audits.

2000-2004:  Various technical and non-technical activities, including HTML/Java training, C++ project, volunteer HTML webmaster.  Details on request.

1998-1999:  Vehicle Software Integration Engineer, United Defense/FMC, San Jose, CA:

Integration of Ada and C software onto VME-chassis computer with MIPS and PowerPC boards running VxWorks operating system, on the Bradley military vehicle.  Responsible for software builds using Rational Apex for Sun host.  Used Rational cross-compiler VADS 3.1.0e to compile for MIPS board and VADS 3.1.0c to compile for PowerPC board.  Debugging and troubleshooting of Ada and C source code in Sun, PC, MIPS, and PowerPC heterogeneous environment.  Loading and testing of software builds onto bench and vehicle using download and burn-in methods.  Developed many UNIX scripts for use as build tools.  Developed many build and burn procedures.  Customized Rational tools with site-specific changes for United Defense developers.  Acted as liaison to Rational, for developer problems and Y2K testing.  Used formal software development processes and procedures, per SEI Level 2 and Level 3.  One of only six software engineers selected to be interviewed for United Defense's SEI Level 3 certification.  Group successfully achieved Level 3 certification for United Defense in 1998.

1996-1998:  Vehicle Software Development Engineer, United Defense/FMC, San Jose, CA:

Development of embedded software for the Bradley military vehicle.  Developed Ada applications related to sending, receiving, and processing VMF digital messages, as part of large team developing software including moving maps and diagnostic functions.  Coding and testing with Rational Apex and Testmate (same test tool used on Boeing 777 embedded Ada code).  Formal requirements analysis, design, coding, and testing, to SEI Level 2 and ISO 9001 standards.  One of several software engineers selected to be interviewed for United Defense's successful SEI Level 2 certification in 1997.  Formal design reviews and code reviews, including diagrams, code and PDL.  Formal documentation using PC office tools.  Host and target integration for high-level demonstrations, including to the Pentagon.  Coordinated evaluation of three modes of Testmate testing on wide variety of Ada packages in C2, GUI, and other applications.  Daily use of Harvest to track and document problem reports and status.  Daily host integration and testing of C2 and GUI functionality.

Jan 96-Jun 96:  Simulation Software Developer, United Defense/FMC, SJ, CA:

Upgraded ISA3, a United Defense graphic vehicle simulation program in C language, on IRIX (SGI UNIX).  Program interactively drives simulated vehicle over user-specified terrain, with near-real-time vehicle response and temperatures, and color-coded temperature indication.  Modified algorithms and C code as required to integrate previous versions into one, and added new features related to Infra-Red detection simulation.

1994-1996:  Analysis and Simulation Engineer, United Defense/FMC, SJ, CA:

Analysis and simulation of various parts and systems of the CAV experimental vehicle.

1991-1994:  Software Application Engineer, Altos Engineering, Los Altos, CA:  Software testing, training, and technical support for PC software related to nuclear power plant piping.  Debugging and supervision of bug fixes, in C and Fortran.  Some consulting at Grand Gulf power plant in Mississippi.  Developed own DOS application for pipe wear.

1988-1990:  Analysis and Simulation Supervisor, United Defense/FMC, San Jose, CA:

Supervised group of 5-10 engineers doing analysis and simulation of various parts and systems of the Bradley and other U.S. Army vehicles, including stress analysis, Finite Element Analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic analysis.

1985-1988:  Analysis and Simulation Engineer, United Defense/FMC, San Jose, CA:

Analysis and simulation of various parts and systems of the Bradley and other U.S. Army vehicles, including stress analysis, and Finite Element Analysis.  Development of algorithms and code in Fortran and Basic.

1982-1985:  Analysis and Simulation Engineer, Westinghouse, Sunnyvale, CA:

Analysis and simulation of parts of Navy submarines, including stress and Finite Element Analysis.  Developed series of Fortran programs to simulate operation of submarine gears.  Company Patent Award for noise-damping arrangement for large gears.
